CPATA is seeking expressions of interest to fill a patent agent (non-IPIC member) position on its Registration Committee, which assists the Registrar in the administration of the College’s licensing requirements.
Committee members are involved in approving the standards for the evaluation of competencies and standards for demonstrating competency on the qualifying examinations, and when requested by an applicant or a licensee, review decisions made by the Registrar under the College’s By-laws. The successful candidate will be committed to fairness and prepared to complete training in both administrative law principles and fair registration practices. Pursuant to the terms of reference, this Committee is comprised of a non-licensee majority.
As a Committee member, this individual will be expected to participate in virtual meetings and take time to review and adequately prepare for each meeting. Committee members are compensated for their time and expertise in accordance with the schedule set out in CPATA’s By-laws.
CPATA is strongly committed to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion and invites and encourages applications from all qualified individuals, including members of racialized groups, Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, persons of any sexual orientation, and persons of any gender identity or gender expression.
At this time there is a particular need for a patent agent fluent in both official languages. However, we encourage everyone who is interested to make a submission.
