Directors are offered financial compensation for their time and expertise. Elected licensees will begin their term at CPATA\u2019s Annual General Meeting on June 13, 2024 for a three year term.<\/p><p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Anyone interested in running in the Director eligible to be appointed or elected as a director if they<\/span><span 18 years of <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW57103920 BCX0\">age;<\/span><\/li>\n \t<li>have the status of a bankrupt;<\/li>\n \t<li>are a member of an association whose primary purpose is to represent the interests of <span style=\"font-size: 16px;\" data-contrast=\"auto\">persons who provide advice on patents or trademarks (i.e. IPIC);<\/span><\/li>\n \t<li>were, within the preceding 12 months, a member of a governing body or a steeringcommittee of an association referred to in paragraph (c);<\/li>\n \t<li>in the case of an appointment to the Board,\n<ol>\n \t<li>are a licensee, or<\/li>\n \t<li>are employed by a <i style=\"font-weight: inherit;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">department<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\" data-contrast=\"auto\">, as defined in section 2 of the <\/span><i style=\"font-weight: inherit;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Financial<\/span><\/i> <i style=\"font-weight: inherit;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Administration Act; or<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n \t<li>in the case of election to the Board,\n<ol>\n \t<li>have a license that is suspended, or<\/li>\n \t<li>meet any other ineligibility criteria set out in the by-laws.<span style=\"font-size: 16px;\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW69476257 BCX0\">professional regulatory body to have committed professional misconduct or to be incompetent <\/span><\/span> <span class=\"TextRun SCXW69476257 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW69476257 BCX0\">within the meaning of the statute under which the body made its <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW69476257 BCX0\">finding;<\/span><\/span><\/li><li><span class=\"TextRun SCXW176320659 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW176320659 BCX0\">they are the subject of an action taken by the Investigations Committee under <\/span><\/span> <span class=\"TextRun SCXW176320659 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW176320659 BCX0\">subsection 37.1(1) of the <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW176320659 BCX0\">Act;<\/span><\/span><\/li><li><span class=\"TextRun SCXW265579266 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW265579266 BCX0\">they are the subject of an application to the Discipline Committee by the Investigations <\/span><\/span> <span class=\"TextRun SCXW265579266 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW265579266 BCX0\">Committee<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW265579266 BCX0\"> under subsection 49(1) of the <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW265579266 BCX0\">Act;<\/span><\/span><\/li><li><span class=\"TextRun SCXW131448053 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW131448053 BCX0\">they have already served as a director for a period of six <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW131448053 BCX0\">years<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW131448053 BCX0\"> and, on the date of the <\/span><\/span> <span class=\"TextRun SCXW131448053 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW131448053 BCX0\">election, less than two years have elapsed since the end of that period;<\/span><\/span><\/li><li><span class=\"TextRun SCXW29638321 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW29638321 BCX0\">they are employed by a <\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW29638321 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW29638321 BCX0\">department<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW29638321 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW29638321 BCX0\"> as defined in section 2 of the <\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW29638321 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW29638321 BCX0\">Financial <\/span><\/span> <span class=\"TextRun SCXW29638321 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW29638321 BCX0\">Administration <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW29638321 BCX0\">Act;<\/span><\/span><\/li><li><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW103438171 BCX0\">they have not provided the CEO with a declaration <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW103438171 BCX0\">regarding<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW103438171 BCX0\"> conflicts of interest; or<\/span><\/li><li><span class=\"TextRun SCXW231429779 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW231429779 BCX0\">they have not attended an orientation for prospective candidates for election.<\/span><\/span><\/li><\/ol><p><span class=\"TextRun SCXW141773192 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW141773192 BCX0\">Eligible
