To pull up a list of all active foreign practitioners, enter the keyword \u2018foreign\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2cfff73 elementor-widget elementor-widget-button\" data-id=\"2cfff73\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"button.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-button-text\">Public Register<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">What can a Foreign Practitioner do in Canada?<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-752438a elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"752438a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h4 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Foreign Practitioners listed on the Register of <b>Patent<\/b> Agents<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-86a230f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"86a230f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>These practitioners are entitled to:<\/p><ul><li>Appoint a patent agent to represent an applicant or patentee on the applicant or patentee\u2019s behalf, and revoke the existing appointment of a patent agent on the applicant or patentee\u2019s behalf;<\/li><li>Sign a small entity declaration on behalf of the applicant or patentee; and<\/li><li>Participate in an interview with an examiner at the Patent Office, with the permission of the licensee on the file.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-217478a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"217478a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>In addition to the above, persons authorized by the applicant (including a foreign practitioner) are able to perform the following actions for patent applications:<\/p><ul><li>File a new application or a request for national phase entry if authorized in accordance with subsection 36(2) of the <a href=\"https:\/\/laws-lois.justice.gc.ca\/eng\/regulations\/SOR-2019-251\/index.html\"><em>Patent Rules<\/em><\/a><em>; <\/em><\/li><li>Pay a maintenance fee if authorized in accordance with subsection 36(2) or 37(1) of the <a href=\"https:\/\/laws-lois.justice.gc.ca\/eng\/regulations\/SOR-2019-251\/index.html\"><em>Patent Rules<\/em><\/a><em>; <\/em><\/li><li>Submit a request for examination;<\/li><li>Submit a request to record a transfer if authorized in accordance with subsection 36(3) or 37(1) of the <a href=\"https:\/\/laws-lois.justice.gc.ca\/eng\/regulations\/SOR-2019-251\/index.html\"><em>Patent Rules<\/em><\/a><em>; <\/em><\/li><li>Submit a request to record a name change if authorized in accordance with subsection 36(4) or 37(1) of the <a href=\"https:\/\/laws-lois.justice.gc.ca\/eng\/regulations\/SOR-2019-251\/index.html\"><em>Patent Rules<\/em><\/a><em>; <\/em><\/li><li>Take any action to represent a patentee, excluding those outlined in subsection 37(2) of the <a href=\"https:\/\/laws-lois.justice.gc.ca\/eng\/regulations\/SOR-2019-251\/index.html\"><em>Patent Rules<\/em><\/a>, if authorized in accordance with subsection 37(1) of the <a href=\"https:\/\/laws-lois.justice.gc.ca\/eng\/regulations\/SOR-2019-251\/index.html\"><em>Patent Rules<\/em><\/a><em>. <\/em><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5d04f71 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"5d04f71\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h4 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Foreign Practitioners listed on the Register of <b>Trademark <\/b>Agents<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7ad5550 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"7ad5550\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>These practitioners are entitled to:<\/p><ul><li>Appoint a Trademark Agent to represent a person in any business before the Office of the Registrar of Trademarks or give notice of the revocation of such an appointment.<\/li><\/ul><p>In addition to the above, persons authorized by the applicant (including a foreign practitioner) are able to perform the following actions for trademarks:<\/p><ul><li>filing an application for the registration of a trademark, an application for international registration or a transformation application;<\/li><li>paying a fee;<\/li><li>renewing the registration of a trademark; or<\/li><li>making a request or providing evidence with respect to the transfer of an application or a registration under section 48 of the <a href=\"https:\/\/laws-lois.justice.gc.ca\/eng\/acts\/t-13\/\">Trademarks Act<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CPATA
