The nature of the previous conduct, suitability to practise and subsequent conduct are considered when determining if the good character requirement is met. Some of the factors arising from previous behaviour include:<\/p><ul><li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"12\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Age at the time of\u00a0any criminal or similar\u00a0offence;<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"12\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">How long ago\u00a0a criminal or similar\u00a0offence occurred;<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"12\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Frequency and seriousness of\u00a0any reported\u00a0occurrences;<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"12\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Factors underlying\u00a0a criminal or similar\u00a0offence;<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"12\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Evidence of rehabilitation (including changes implemented to prevent future occurrences); and\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"12\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Evidence of positive social contributions since the offence.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Fitness to\u00a0Practise &#8211; While\u00a0striving to balance respect for human dignity with the College\u2019s obligation to protect the public interest,\u00a0the Registrar must determine\u00a0if\u00a0an applicant or Agent is fit to practise by assessing their ability to be a licensee, and maintain their licence, with sufficient knowledge, skills and judgement\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">not substantially impaired by a physical, mental, or emotional condition, disorder or addiction.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4a94bed elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"4a94bed\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">PROCEDURES <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1e14c14 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"1e14c14\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ol><li>Applicants for an Agent in Training (Class 3) Licence will respond to the good character declarations on the application form by providing:<br \/><ol type=\"a\"><li>a criminal background check;<\/li><li>records of any disciplinary sanction imposed by an academic institution or professional or non-professional body;<\/li><li>Certificates of Professional Conduct or Good Standing issued by any organization responsible for the regulation of a profession from any jurisdiction in which the Trainee Applicant is or was registered, and must be sent directly to the College, dated no later than 6 months from the date of the application; and<\/li><li>records of any bankruptcy or insolvency.<\/li><\/ol><\/li><\/ol><ol start=\"2\"><li>The Registrar may request other information to assess good character including:<ul><li>A detailed account of past conduct and relevant documents related to the conduct;<\/li><li>Evidence of prior and subsequent behaviour;<\/li><li>Court transcripts and proceedings, particularly criminal findings and sentencing;<\/li><li>Decisions and reasons for civil court orders;<\/li><li>Academic transcripts;<\/li><li>Parole or Probation Officer\u2019s reports;<\/li><li>A certified copy of:<ul><li>The police Information Form, Indictment or any other charging document (typically available from the Court Clerk where your matter was heard)<\/li><li>Any judicial interim release, promise to appear, undertaking or recognizance of bail form, if applicable;<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>All judgments, orders and reasons for decision made by the Court (available from the Court Clerk where the matter was heard);<\/li><li>Disclosure (evidence provided by the prosecution in accordance with its obligations), if available;<\/li><li>Police report(s), if available;<\/li><li>Pre-sentencing or Pre-disposition Report, if applicable;<\/li><li>Pardons, if applicable;<\/li><li>Termination letter or discharge documentation from your employer;<\/li><li>Any investigation report or other report prepared by or for your employer in relation to your conduct, if applicable;<\/li><li>Notice of \u201cTrustee in Bankruptcy\u201d;<ul><li>Notice of Discharge;<\/li><li>Conditional Discharge, if applicable;<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Any investigation report or other report prepared by or for your employer in relation to conduct, if applicable;<ul><li>Any warning letter, conduct letter, or memo to file setting out the circumstances of the discipline;<\/li><li>All pleadings in relation to human rights proceedings (such as Application, Response, and Reply)<\/li><li>All judgments, orders, and reasons for decision made by a court or tribunal in relation to conduct<\/li><li>Signed consent to permit the employer \/ former employer to provide the discipline or proceeding documents to the College directly<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>The circumstances of the finding(s) of guilt, court order(s), and\/or outstanding charge(s) or warrant(s) to arrest and particulars of any offences;<\/li><li>Length of time since the offence(s) occurred; and<\/li><li>Efforts made at rehabilitation, likelihood of recurrences, and accomplishments since an offence.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol><ol start=\"3\"><li>If the fitness to practise question is answered affirmatively, the applicant will submit the Fitness to Practise: Additional Information Form to provide additional information regarding their situation. This information will be kept strictly confidential and will not be shared with any external parties, including the applicant\u2019s firm, without their consent.<\/li><\/ol><ol start=\"4\"><li>Registration staff will communicate the Registrar\u2019s decision to the applicant or Agent in writing and will provide instructions for appealing the decision to the Registration Committee should the Registrar deem the good character or fitness to practise requirements unmet for any reason.<\/li><\/ol>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-81dd516 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"81dd516\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Criminal Background Check<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bebd80b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"bebd80b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>A criminal background check must be obtained from the applicant\u2019s local police station and contain the information in Appendix A. Additionally, the report must:<\/p><ol type=\"a\"><li>be dated no more than six (6) months before the date of the application;<\/li><li>reflect the name and date of birth on the application form;<\/li><li>confirm that a search was completed on all names the applicant uses or has used;<\/li><li>not be provided by a commercial vendor offering online background checks.<\/li><\/ol>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3c02dd1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"3c02dd1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h4 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">International Background Checks<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ac58a99 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ac58a99\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>If an applicant lived or worked in a country outside of Canada after the age of 18,supporting documentation must also be provided:<\/p><ul><li>a criminal background check performed by a police and\/or law enforcement agency authorized to do so in that (or those) jurisdiction(s); or<\/li><li>if the applicant was successful with a Canadian immigration process (i.e. Canadian permanent resident status or Canadian citizenship),a notarized copy of the approved immigration documentation (i.e. Permanent Resident Card, Citizenship Certificate)and an affidavit confirming no information would be presented on the background check if one were to be provided, can be submitted in lieu of the international background check.<\/li><\/ul><p>Applicants are encouraged to contact the Director of Registration at <a href=\"mailto:registration-inscription@cpata-cabamc.ca\">registration-inscription@cpata-cabamc.ca<\/a> to discuss their specific situation and receive further instructions about required documentation.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element
