and<\/li><li>submit the letter of attestation from their supervisor(s) confirming<br \/>completion of at least 12 months of supervised training (first-time writers only).<\/li><\/ul><p>Trademark Agent Skills Examination<\/p><p>To write the Skills Examination, an agent must meet the above criteria, must have completed the 24-month training requirement and demonstrated competency on the Knowledge Examination.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-fcf2af5 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"fcf2af5\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-0111466\" data-id=\"0111466\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-df459ac elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"df459ac\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h4 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Registration<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8a6b042 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"8a6b042\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Trademark Knowledge Examination<\/strong><\/p><p>Registration for the Winter 2027 Knowledge Examination will open November 2, 2026 and the deadline to register is January 8, 2027.<\/p><p>The 2027 Knowledge Examination Registration form will be available in the Fall.<\/p><p>The deadline to register as a Class 3 agent-in-training to be considered for 2027 Winter exams is October 30, 2026.<\/p><p>The deadline to register as a Class 3 agent-in-training to be considered for 2027\u202fSpring exams is February 26, 2027.<\/p><p><strong>Trademark Agent Skills Examinations<\/strong><\/p><p>The 2026 Trademark Agent Skills Examination Registration opens May 6, 2026, and the deadline to register is August 7, 2026.<\/p><p>Candidates who demonstrate competency on the Knowledge examination and meet the eligibility requirements mentioned above will be provided with the link to the registration form for the skills examinations in the Spring 2026.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-57b6390 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"57b6390\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h5 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Letter of Attestation<\/h5>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7fe70f1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"7fe70f1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Trademark Knowledge Examination<\/strong><\/p><p>Candidates writing for the first time are required to submit a letter of attestation issued by their Training Supervisor (Class 1 or 2 Licensee or approved representative from the Canadian Intellectual Property Office) who is familiar with their work and that clearly describes:<\/p><ul><li>the firm or office of the training supervisor with whom the candidate undertook training;<\/li><li>the names of training supervisors who were most responsible for supervision of their work<\/li><li>the training dates;<\/li><li>the nature of the work done by the candidate during their training (e.g., preparing, filing and prosecuting applications, interviewing, research);<\/li><li>the nature of the arrangement with the training supervisor or their office or firm (e.g., full time, part time etc.); and<\/li><li>confirmation that, in the opinion of the training supervisor, the training has prepared the candidate for writing the Qualifying Examinations.<\/li><\/ul><p>Candidates who have previously attempted the exam are required to submit the exam registration form but are not required to re-submit the letter of attestation from their training supervisor.<\/p><p>The letter should be e-mailed to <a href=\"mailto:registration-inscription@cpata-cabamc.ca\">registration-inscription@cpata-cabamc.ca<\/a> by the registration deadlines noted above.<\/p><p><strong>Trademark Skills examination<\/strong><\/p><p>An additional letter of attestation is required for first-time writers if the letter previously submitted for the Trademark Knowledge Examination did not confirm completion of the 24-month training requirement. The content of this letter should be consistent with the requirements outlined above.<\/p><p>If a candidate was required to complete remedial training and\/or education to re-establish their eligibility, their supervisor must submit an email confirming that the required remedial training and\/or education has been completed.
