Class 3 Licence Renewal

Agents accessing the Licensee Portal after October 1 will have to re-activate their accounts. Consult our FAQ for instructions.

Class 3 agents in training must renew their licence(s) once per year around the anniversary of their initial registration.  


  1. Fill out the Class 3 Renewal Form and e-mail it to 

    1. Complete the declarations regarding Canadian residency, insurance, and Training supervision status. 
    2. Provide payment information. The fee to renew a Class 3 licence on its first anniversary is $150 plus applicable taxes. The fee to renew a class 3 trademark agent in training licence and a class 3 patent agent in training licence is $300 plus taxes ($150 per licence).
  2. Log in to the Licensee Portal to ensure that personal information is up to date: contact information, mailing address, public address and place of work information. 

Once the renewal is processed, a copy of the paid invoice will be available in the Licensee Portal under the section Invoices and Receipts. Please note that CPATA does not issue invoices in advance but does provide a receipt after payment. 

Licensees who have not returned their renewal form and paid their fees by their specified deadline will be suspended for non-payment of fees.
